The Advent season is upon us! This exciting time of year begins Sunday, November 27th and continues through Christmas Day. We want to invite you and your family to join us for a special celebration of the Promised One – Jesus Christ our Lord. Yes, He is the One we celebrate every day, but the Advent season is a special time of year that we set aside especially to talk about Christ’s coming.

In our Advent sermon series, we will look at four aspects that Jesus’ coming brought to the world: hope, joy, peace and love. Advent is the antidote to a hurried holiday. As a church family, let’s take a slow walk to the manger together.

Here is a look at our schedule:

Sundays

9:30 a.m. = Family Groups (Bible study and fellowship for all ages)

10:40 a.m. = Worship

6:00 p.m. = Life on Mission (evening worship), except on holidays

Christmas Eve (Saturday, December 24)

5:00 p.m. = Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25)

10:40 a.m. = Christmas Morning Worship
*No Family Groups on Christmas Day.

The fall festival was a blast on Sunday. We had over 120 people in attendance and had a great time. Here are just a few pictures that captured the moments…

Please mark your calendars for our annual fall festival, which will be held at Richland on Sunday, October 30^th from 4-7 p.m. This family event for all ages will include supper, games, the bounce house, popcorn, s’mores, a bonfire and a hayride.

This is a great time for family fun, encouragement and fellowship. Please invite your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and everyone else in the community. Hope to see you October 30th!

The association of churches to which we belong – Grand Crossings Baptist Association – is having a church revitalization conference and annual meeting Friday and Saturday, September 23-24. We will be meeting at Union Baptist Church in Mexico Friday evening (6:30 – 9:00) and Saturday (8:00 – 4:30 with breakfast and lunch provided).  This conference is completely FREE and is a great opportunity for anyone who is serious about growing in his/her Christian faith and being a part of gospel-centered church growth and revitalization. It is also an important time for our association and a great way for you to learn about ministry opportunities in Callaway and Audrain counties.

Several weeks ago Levi Drake made the decision to repent of his sins and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Yesterday, Levi was baptized during our morning worship service, and the below video is a very short version of his testimony of how God began to convict him of his need for faith and repentance, and how the Holy Spirit has begun to change him. Praise God for His mighty act of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord!

We hope you’ll join us this coming Sunday morning (September 4th) for a new 4-week sermon series –  “Touchstones: Markers for Measuring Discipleship.”
 
Here are the four markers we’ll be discussing:

1. The Capstone – Christ
2. The Foundation Stone – Faith
3. The Kingdom Stone – Mission
4. The Ultimate Stone – Redemption

 
Whether you are a mature disciple of Christ seeking to grow further in your faith, a new believer hungry for spiritual growth, or someone who just isn’t sure what to believe, we pray this series of messages will encourage you to search for truth and understand what it means to be a faithful servant and steward of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our annual back-to-school ice cream social is this coming Sunday evening (August 28th). We’ll start with a special worship service at 6:00, followed by ice cream and fellowship.

If you are a teacher, coach, school staff member or student (at any age level), we would love the opportunity to recognize and pray for you at the end of the service, which will also include a special gift for students.

Everyone is invited to join us, so please spread the word to your family, friends, classmates, teachers, coaches, school staff, neighbors and the community.
